Morning boys,
Playing top of the table was always going to be tough, and the score didn’t reflect the effort from the team and our domination up front.
Old Ruts started strong, and their offside blitz defence tactic put a lot of pressure on our back line. There was strong counter rucking from both sides and was an extremely physical game throughout. However, a couple basic mistakes saw them bumble in for an unjust 15-0 lead… but we weren’t to be disheartened. With masses of pride, we came back strong, playing the other 30 minutes of the first half in their 22. Some great meat-head action in the forwards and kicking from Ali saw us pull it back to 15-8 at half time.
Within minutes of the 2nd half kicking off though, Mark cried off moaning about his knee, something about it popping out, leaving us with just 14 men due to zero subs. Old Ruts capitalised on their man advantage out wide, especially with their outside centre being built like a jet powered barrel. Excessive handling errors and basic mistakes throughout the game, including one from yours truly, let their fatty pie boys role in for several soft scores which put a bad reflection on the score. Despite finishing 39-8, I feel we showed we’ve got a lot of talent and with a little training; we can iron out into a top side!
MOTM – Very tough, but gotta give it to Damo for taking the kit back to the latch, played fella.
DOTD – Much easier one this, Sam Parker for missing the game due to a “romantic weekend in Oxford with the better half”. What a g*y.
See you on Wednesday!
